Andrew Merton

Analytics module manager & subject matter expert at Spirae

Andrew Merton has worked in a variety of roles since 1995. From 1995 to 2001, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Modeling & Computing Services, where they developed statistical models to simulate stress corrosion cracking in stainless steels in both irradiated and non-irradiated environments. From 2000 to 2001, they worked as a Teaching Assistant at Colorado State University. From 2001 to 2002, they worked as a Research Assistant at Colorado State University's Environmental Health Department, where they performed statistical analysis and developed models to map the relationship between EMF and the production of melatonin in the human body. From 2002 to 2011, they worked as a Research Associate and Research Fellow at Colorado State University's Department of Biology and Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit, respectively. Here, they modeled the spread of infectious disease in migratory waterfowl, developed a non-parametric test for comparing multiple realizations of multivariate spatially correlated data, constructed continental scale networks for modeling/simulating migratory behavior, and developed new optimization procedures for identifying clusters within large populations. Finally, from 2011 to present, they have worked as an Analytics Module Manager & Subject Matter Expert and Statistician and System Analyst for Spirae. In this role, they have guided a small team of developers to design, implement, test, validate, and deliver Wave's analytics module, designed, prototyped, tested, and validated metric calculations, and provided statistical and mathematical modeling expertise.

Andrew Merton received their Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1993. Andrew then went on to receive their Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same university in 1995. Finally, in 2006, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics from Colorado State University.
