Sandy Muirhead is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in commissioning, transformation, and sustainability. Currently serving as Group Head of Commissioning and Transformation at Spelthorne Borough Council since 2004, Sandy oversees various critical areas including project management, performance management, and climate change initiatives. Previously, as Head of Sustainability and Leisure, responsibilities included waste management, parks strategy, and leisure services. Sandy's expertise extends to international collaboration as Director of Business Networks at Forum for the Future, where sustainable practices were implemented across numerous industries. With a strong background in environmental performance improvement as Programme Manager at AEA Technology, Sandy holds a Bachelor of Science in Ecological Science from The University of Edinburgh and a PhD in Pollution Ecology from the University of Glasgow.
