ROLE BRIEF

The Management Accountant - Revenue will be responsible for managing the company's revenue accounting processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of revenue, and providing insights into revenue performance. This role involves close collaboration with the HOF, finance team, sales team, and senior management to support strategic decision-making. This role will be heavily Revenue focused but will also include other aspects of a management accountant role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure accurate and timely recognition of revenue in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Review contracts and agreements to ensure revenue is recognised correctly.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue reports and forecasts.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, ensuring all revenue-related entries are accurately recorded.
  • Perform detailed analysis of revenue streams and trends to provide insights to management.
  • Reconcile revenue accounts and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, specifically focusing on revenue projections.
  • Monitor actual revenue against budgeted figures and explain variances.
  • Develop and implement improvements to revenue accounting processes and controls.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as external regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with the sales team to understand revenue drivers and provide financial support.
  • Collaborate with other finance team members to support overall financial planning and analysis.
  • Support external audit processes related to revenue.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and other financial reporting requirements.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the revenue accounting team (two direct reports)
  • Assist the CFO, HOF & Finance team with other ad hoc duties as and when requested

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education:
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, CIMA, ACCA) preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar accounting role, preferably with a focus on revenue with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience of revenue recognition principles.
  • Experience of VAT returns
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Xero preferable but not essential) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Leadership/team management skills
  • Competencies:
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition standards and financial reporting.
  • Ability to interpret and apply accounting standards to real-world scenarios.
  • Attention to Detail. Precision in financial reporting and reconciliation tasks.
  • Ability to analyse complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills to work across departments
