Steven Kanner serves as Chief Scientific Officer at Caribou Biosciences since 2017 and holds positions as Independent Director at RegCell and Specific Biologics since 2024 and 2022, respectively. Kanner previously held the role of Vice President of Biology at Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from 2013 to 2017 and Vice President of Discovery Biology at Astex Pharmaceuticals from 2010 to 2012. Earlier career highlights include serving as Director of Cancer Research at Agensys/Astellas from 2003 to 2010 and Associate Director at Bristol-Myers Squibb from 1990 to 2003. Kanner earned a Bachelor of Arts in Genetics from the University of California, Berkeley, a Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology from the University of Miami, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Cancer Biology at the University of Virginia.
