Annemarie Hill

Chief, Health Operations at Special Olympics

In her role as Chief of Health Operations, Annemarie Hill is responsible for the overall operations both of the health programming across Special Olympics’ seven regions as well as the headquarters and regional health teams.

Prior to joining Special Olympics International in 2013, Annemarie served as the CEO of Special Olympics South Africa during which time the Program grew by over 25% and played host to two international events. Preceding this role, Annemarie served in Special Olympics Africa’s regional office where she was responsible for the roll out of the Healthy Athletes Program in 22 African states.

Before joining Special Olympics, Annemarie worked in the non-profit sector establishing a sport program to break down racial barriers in post-Apartheid South Africa and in a clinical role as a physiotherapist. Her commitment to marginalized populations is evident through complementary roles that she has played co-founding a primary health care clinic for underserved populations on the outskirts of Johannesburg and as an adjudicator for the National Lotteries and Distribution Trust Fund.

Annemarie holds a BSc (Physiotherapy) qualification from the University of Cape Town and a Masters degree in Public Health from the University of the Witwatersrand.
