Amy Gao started their work experience in 2001 as a Sr. GIS Programmer/Analyst at Pace Suburban Bus Service. Amy then worked as a GIS Specialist at SAIC from February to December 2008. In August 2007, they served as an Adjunct Professor at Elmhurst College. In December 2008, they became a GIS Architect/Project Manager at IBM, where they led a team in various projects and wrote winning proposals. In September 2008, they founded Spatial Front Inc. (SFI) and currently serves as the President and CEO. SFI has received recognition for being one of Virginia's fastest-growing companies. Amy also worked as a GIS Architect at FAA from September 2009 to February 2010, where they implemented Geospatial technologies for the Obstacle Evaluation Service group.
Amy Gao earned their Master's degree in Urban Planning and Policy, with Specialization in Urban Transportation, from the University of Illinois Chicago, where they attended from 1999 to 2001. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications including Certified TBM Executive from the TBM Council in July 2018 and SAFe Program Consultant from Scaled Agile, Inc. in March 2019. Amy is also certified as a Scrum Master (CSM), Geographic Information System Professional (GISP), and has completed the ITIL Foundation training. Amy is currently pursuing certification in Project Management Professional (PMP), SAFe Agilist, and TOGAF Architect.
