Christopher Riling

Senior Director, Head Of Systemic Gene Therapy Research at Spark Therapeutics

Christopher Riling has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Christopher began their career as a Research Technician II at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from March 2008 to May 2010. Christopher then joined the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine as a Graduate Research Associate from June 2010 to October 2015, where they conducted research on intracellular regulatory mechanisms of T cell differentiation and anergy in autoimmunity. During this time, they made significant contributions to several research papers published in top-tier journals and gained expertise in cellular immunology techniques.

In 2015, Christopher joined Progenra, Inc. as a Senior Scientist. In this role, they developed and executed multiple assays and authored grants responsible for significant funding. Christopher also served as an Assistant Director from September 2016 to February 2018, managing and performing research efforts on multiple small-molecule drug discovery projects.

Currently, Christopher is working at Spark Therapeutics, Inc. Since joining in July 2018, they have held various positions, including Research Scientist and Liver Pre-Clinical Research Lead. Christopher has recently been promoted to Liver Research Leader and is currently serving as the Head of Liver Research.

Christopher Riling received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Biology, General from Temple University from 2003 to 2007. Later, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine from 2010 to 2015.
