Houman Shokraneh is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in propulsion systems and turbomachinery. Currently serving as the Director of Starship Propulsion Systems Engineering and Director of Turbomachinery at SpaceX since May 2017, Houman has previously held key positions at L.A. Turbine, including Director of Engineering and Director of the Analytical Department. Prior to these roles, Houman contributed as a Mechanical Engineer specializing in turbo expander design. Houman's academic background includes a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Control & Dynamics from the University of Southern California, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Sharif University of Technology. Research efforts involved finding numerical solutions for complex fluid dynamics problems during a tenure as a Research Assistant at the University of Southern California.
