Michael Farren has a diverse work experience in the field of cyber, acquisition, and intelligence. Michael is currently working as the Cyber, Acquisition, and Intelligence Group Lead at Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc since June 2019. In this role, they are responsible for leading the development of the initial DoD Military Cyberspace Capability Roadmap and providing subject matter expertise for Cyberspace policy initiatives.
Prior to this, Michael worked as a Senior Military Operations Analyst at the same company from January 2017. Michael was actively involved in developing the DoD Military Cyberspace Capability Roadmap and providing subject matter expertise for multiple Cyberspace policy initiatives.
Before joining Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc, Michael worked at Welkin Associates, Ltd. as a Senior Navy SIGINT/IO/Cyber Engineer from August 2016 to January 2017. In this role, they utilized their expertise in SIGINT, IO, and Cyber engineering to contribute to various projects.
Michael also has a significant work experience in the US Navy. Michael served as an NSA Program Manager from August 2013 to July 2016, where they led a Cyber/EW convergence program and delivered innovative prototype capabilities to the Department of Defense. Prior to this, they held various roles including Eisenhower School student, US Pacific Fleet Staff Cryptologist, NIOC Hawaii Department Head, EP-3 Weapons school director, VQ-1 Operations Department Head, VP-30 Department Head, VQ-2 Weapons and Tactics Instructor, NAVAIR Project Officer, and VQ-2 EW Mission Commander.
Throughout their career, Michael has demonstrated expertise in cyber operations, cryptologic operations, training and employment, weapons and tactics instruction, project management, and avionics development. Michael has received recognition for their exceptional performance, including being a Distinguished Graduate from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Management.
Michael Farren pursued their education at the United States Naval Academy from 1989 to 1993. During their time there, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in English. In 2012, Michael attended the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, where they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in National Security and Resource Strategy in 2013.
