Eric Rhodes has extensive work experience in various scientific and research roles. Eric is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. since September 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Scientist at ICESS from September 2018 to September 2021.
Eric also has experience working with government agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a Biologist from July 2017 to September 2018, and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in multiple research positions. At the EPA, they served as a Research Microbiologist in the National Homeland Security Research Center from January 2015 to July 2017, where they led research on microbiological issues related to CBRN WMD incidents. Eric also served as a Research Microbiologist in the National Exposure Research Laboratory from February 2007 to January 2015, conducting research on pathogenic microorganisms in the environment. Prior to that, they worked as a Post Doctoral Microbiologist in the National Risk Management Research Laboratory, conducting research on water and wastewater microbiology from August 2006 to February 2007.
Before their work in the research field, Eric served in the United States Air Force as a Munitions Systems Specialist from November 1993 to June 2001. Eric received an honorable discharge and completed both active duty and reserve service.
In addition to their professional experience, Eric has a strong academic background. Eric worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Miami University's Department of Microbiology from August 2001 to August 2006, where they applied molecular biology tools and developed new genetic systems for the study of gene systems in pathogenic bacteria. Eric also utilized advanced techniques such as qPCR, microarray, and 2-D gel systems to study global gene expression.
Eric Rhodes has a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, General from Ohio University, which they obtained from 1998 to 2001. Subsequently, they pursued further education at Miami University, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Microbiology, General from 2001 to 2006.
