Terry Benton

Vice President Operations at SouthWest Water Company

Terry Benton has extensive experience in the water and wastewater industry. Terry served as the Vice President of Operations at SouthWest Water Company from 2014 to the present, overseeing water and wastewater systems in Texas. Prior to that, they were the Assistant Director of Water Utilities at the City of Arlington, Texas from 2007 to 2014. Before that, they were the Director of Public Works at the City of Brighton, Colorado from 1998 to 2007, where they managed multiple departments and worked closely with the City Council. From 1995 to 1998, they held the same position at the City of Port Lavaca, Texas. Terry began their career as the Manager of Operations at the City of Grand Prairie, Texas, where they worked from 1982 to 1995.

Terry Benton obtained a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration from Dallas Baptist University, where they studied from 1989 to 1994. In addition to their degree, they have obtained various certifications related to water and wastewater treatment from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, including Class C Groundwater Operator certification in 2018, Wastewater Treatment Operator Class C certification in 2016, Class B Water Distribution Certification in 2007, and Class II Wastewater Collections Operator certification in 2004.
