Don West has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Don started their career in 1989 in the United States Marine Corps as an Aviation Life Support personnel and served until 1995. From 1996 to 1998, they worked as an Environmental Demolition Estimator for the U.S. Department of Energy.
In 1998, Don joined Southland Electrical Supply as the IT Operations Manager until 2002, after which they became the Technical Operations Manager until 2004. Don then transitioned to the role of General Manager at the same company from 2004 to 2012.
Following this, Don worked as the Reliability Services Manager at Southand Electrical from 2011 to 2023. In January 2023, they became the Director of Business Development at Southland Electrical Supply, an IPS Company.
Don West's education history includes obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Construction Management & Safety from North Carolina A&T State University, where they attended from 1995 to 1998. Prior to their university education, they also spent six years in the United States Marine Corps from 1989 to 1995, specializing in Aviation Mechanics Survival Equipment. Additionally, they have pursued various certifications throughout their career, including becoming a Pearl level 2 technician from PEARL - Professional Electrical Apparatus Reconditioning League in May 2020. Other certifications include MSHA First Aid & CPR/AED and MSHA Part 46 New Miner Training from Msha Dept of Labor in February 2016, Pearl Level 1 Testing Technician from Professional Electrical Apparatus Recyclers League in January 2015, OSHA 10 Hour from OSHA in March 2014, and OSHA 30 Hour from OSHA in March 1998.
