Cara Doerr is currently the Coordinator of Recruitment & Retention at Southern Illinois University. Cara has held this position since February of 2022. Prior to their current role, Ms. Doerr was the Director of Recruitment & Enrollment at Shawnee Community College from April 2012 to September 2022. Before that, they served as the Student Financial Aid Administrator at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from January 2007 to December 2012.

Ms. Doerr began their career in higher education as the Coordinator of Graduate Education at Saint Louis University in January 2007. Cara then transitioned to Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in May 2013 where they served as the Recruitment & Retention Coordinator until February of 2022. In January 2006, Ms. Doerr started at Southern Illinois University as the Coordinator of Continuing Education.

Ms. Doerr holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Southern Illinois University and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Cara Doerr has a Ph.D. in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Cara also has an M.A. in Higher Education Administration from Saint Louis University, and a B.S. in Fashion Merchandising, Marketing from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

Cara Doerr works with Andrew Balkansky - Interim Dean, College of Liberal Arts, Jeff McGoy - Director, Center for Learning Support Services and Exploratory Student Advisement, and Mandara Savage - Executive Director, Extended Campus. Their manager is Meera Komarraju, Provost & Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
