Alyson Merlin is a Staff Attorney at the Southern Environmental Law Center, a position held since September 2021, previously serving as an Associate Attorney and Summer Law Clerk at the same organization. Alyson gained experience as a Summer Law Clerk at Earthjustice and completed a legal internship with the Office of the New York State Attorney General in the Environmental Protection Bureau. Additional prior roles include being a Fellow at the National Wildlife Federation, an Emergency Hotline Operator at the North Georgia Cottage -- Sexual Assault and Children's Advocacy Center, and completing internships at the Athens Land Trust, Inc., and the Environmental Change Lab. Alyson holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from Columbia Law School and a Bachelor of Science in Ecology, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Georgia, along with coursework at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
