Ed leads a group of talented people in many facets of technology, including creating, distributing and guarding all of the College’s information assets. His team builds a technology backbone that creates maximum flexibility and redundancy; manages systems that create a seamless process for students and employees to interact with the College, both on-premise and virtually; and assists with creating and forming a technology-enhanced learning environment to help students become successful.
As the Milford Campus director, he helps create a destination for students to pursue their educational goals, strives to create strong enrollment and programming growth and helps lead a campus climate that is welcoming, inclusive and resilient.
During his time at SCC, Ed has been involved in several major projects, including $33.5 million of new construction on the Milford Campus, $2.9 million of renovations of existing campus facilities, and saw an increase in on-campus housing from just under 200 students in Fall 2018 to just under 300 students Fall 2019 and Fall 2020.
From a research, planning and technology standpoint, Ed managed the creation of a fully redundant data center infrastructure and fiber backbone, implemented data warehouse and tableau server visualization tools, converted Colleague student information for the quarter-to-semester conversion, launched technology infrastructure in all six learning centers and eight new facilities constructed across the College, and migrated the entire College’s phone system from Toshiba to Mitel over a four-year period.
Outside of SCC, Ed has served as treasurer and chair for Seward County Chamber and Development Partnership boards.
Ed has been in his role at SCC since September 2014, and he has worked in higher education since 2006. That includes five years at Western Iowa Tech Community College as the Director of Information Systems, and then three years at Mount Marty University as the Chief Information Officer. Prior to working in higher education, he spent 16 years working in the telecommunications industry, primarily working with creating and developing data and analytics systems.
