Vice President Supply at South32

Rob Jackson has extensive work experience in the mining industry. Rob started their career as a Graduate Mining Engineer at BHP's Crinum Mine in 1995, and later worked as a Mining Engineer in BHP. Rob then joined Mount Isa Mines as a Longwall Coordinator in 1999 and Australian Coal Mining Consultants as a Principal Mining Engineer in 2000. In 2004, they returned to BHP Billiton as a Senior Business Analyst in Business Development and subsequently became the Manager of Business Development for BMA Coal. In 2008, they transitioned to the role of Marketing Manager for Manganese Ore and later became the Head of Resource Planning and Development for Manganese Australia at BHP Billiton.

After that, they joined South32 in 2014, where they held several leadership positions, including Vice President Operations and Director for Groote Eylandt Mining Company, Vice President Operations and Director for Cannington, and Vice President Supply. Rob also served as the Chief Human Resources and Commercial Officer (Acting) for a brief period. In their role as Vice President Supply at South32, they led a team of 300 people across multiple continents and was responsible for global supply chain risk management and contractor management processes.

Rob Jackson completed a Bachelor of Engineering in Mining Engineering from The University of Queensland from 1990 to 1994. Rob then pursued a Masters in Finance from the Financial Services Institute of Australia, which they completed from 2002 to 2007. Additionally, they attained a GAICD degree from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, with a focus on Business Administration and Management, General (dates not specified). Currently, they are scheduled to complete LEAP certification from INSEAD in 2024.
