Eugene Whitehorn has extensive experience in assurance and internal auditing, currently serving as Manager Assurance at South32 since May 2015, where oversight of Group Assurance audits is provided to ensure risk, governance, and internal control processes are effectively managed. Prior roles within South32 include Lead Assurance and Principal Assurance Africa. Before joining South32, Eugene held the position of Manager Audit Africa and Europe at BHP Billiton, focusing on control health evaluations and internal audit service delivery. Eugene began their career at KPMG South Africa as a Trainee Auditor, progressing to Supervisor. Eugene holds a Master of Philosophy in Internal Audit, a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Internal Auditing, and a Bachelor of Commerce in Financial Accounting from the University of Pretoria.
