Tyler Spires is a seasoned professional in hazard mitigation and geographic information systems (GIS) with extensive experience in emergency management and research. Currently serving as the State Hazard Mitigation Officer at the South Carolina Emergency Management Division since November 2020, Tyler has held roles including Hazard Mitigation GIS Planner and Hazard Mitigation Specialist. Previous experience includes working as an Order Fulfillment Picker at Amazon, focusing on efficiency and quality assurance. At the Hazards and Vulnerability Research Institute, Tyler contributed to significant projects, including analyzing mitigation actions for the South Carolina Emergency Management Division, conducting field research, and participating in post-disaster recovery efforts. Tyler holds a Master of Science in Geography and a Bachelor's Degree in Geography, both from the University of South Carolina.
