They currently hold the position of Head of Bioinformatics Product Development at SOPHiA GENETICS, where they previously served as a Senior Director. Prior to that, Alex worked at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research as a Postdoctoral Fellow, focusing on identifying genetic regulators of neuronal differentiation and discovering cancer-associated mechanisms. They also collaborated with clinicians to study the molecular basis of congenital hydrocephalus and glioblastoma. Alex's career began at The University of Edinburgh, where they conducted research as a PhD student and later as a Postdoctoral Fellow, studying genetic regulation in cells and developing computational and statistical approaches for analysis.
Alex Tuck completed a BSc and MSc in Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge from 2004 to 2008. After that, they pursued an MSci and PhD in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology at The University of Edinburgh from 2008 to 2013.
