Lynn Cominsky has a diverse and extensive work experience. Lynn started their career at USY as a chapter president from 1970 to 1971. Lynn then joined UC Berkeley, where they served as a Science Operations and Data Analysis Manager from September 1984 to October 1985, followed by a role as a Systems Development Manager from October 1985 to August 1986. In 1986, Lynn joined Sonoma State University, where they held various positions over the years. Lynn started as a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy in August 1986 and continues to hold that position. In September 1999, they became the Director of Education and Public Outreach Group, and in September 2004, they became the Chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, a role they held until August 2019.
Lynn Cominsky obtained a Ph.D. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1977 to 1981. Prior to that, they earned a B.A. magna cum laude in Physics with honors in Chemistry from Brandeis University, where they studied from 1971 to 1975. In February 2021, they obtained a certification in CITI IRB Training from the CITI Program, A Division of BRANY.
