Desmond Churchyard is an experienced maintenance electrician with a career spanning over a decade in various electrical roles. Currently employed at Somta Tools since August 2010, Desmond specializes in maintaining all electrical equipment, fault finding on relay logic and PLC machines, as well as PLC programming and repairs of both three-phase and single-phase furnaces. Prior to this, Desmond gained valuable experience at Eskom as a linesman, focusing on the maintenance of reticulation lines, job planning, and safety training, and briefly worked as a maintenance electrician at Aberdare Cables, addressing issues in PVC extrusion machines. Desmond's educational background includes an apprenticeship completed from 1997 to 2001, resulting in a qualification as a section 13 electrician, along with a matric certificate obtained at Estcourt High in 1994.
