Hiroaki Ukai currently serves as the Head of Global Business Group in the Commercial Business Strategy and Underwriting Department at Sompo Japan Insurance Inc., a position held since April 2023, where responsibilities include managing the Global P&C Business Portfolio. Prior to this role, Hiroaki was the Chief Underwriter and Head of Global P&C at Sompo International from August 2017 to March 2023, overseeing the Japanese P&C Business portfolio in the Northeast region as Vice President and East Client Relationship Leader at Sompo North America. Additional experience includes serving as Assistant Vice President for Strategic & Integration at Sompo International, Business Development Manager for Property Treaty at Canopius Re, and various managerial roles at Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. focusing on the energy sector, corporate accounts, marine hull, and cargo underwriting. Hiroaki holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Hitotsubashi University, earned between April 1996 and March 2001.
