James is an Associate Principal and Project Manager in SCB’s Chicago office with over two decades of specialized expertise in commercial building design and construction. His portfolio of work comprises a variety of education, healthcare, science and technology, corporate office, and aviation projects that consistently result in satisfied clients and award-winning architecture. Drawing upon his extensive project knowledge, he leverages a balance of design, technical, and management skills to positively influence client relationships, collaboration efforts, and architectural solutions.
James’ recent experience includes 625 West Adams, a 20-story speculative office building in Chicago’s West Loop; the Aon Observatory, a project that adds a new entertainment attraction to the top of the 82-story tower as well as a glass-sheathed exterior elevator; and 180 Walnut, a new multi-tenant office building at the Banks of Cincinnati riverfront development. He is currently committed to fulfilling project leadership and technical design responsibilities at Studio ORD, a joint venture between SCB, Studio Gang, Corgan, Milhouse Engineering & Construction, Inc., and STLarchitects, assembled to design the new O’Hare Global Terminal.
James participates in SCB’s Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Opportunity (EDIO) Committee and is active in the firm’s outreach initiative with the City Colleges of Chicago, serving on the Advisory Board Council for the Harold Washington College Center of Excellence in Business. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and received his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
