Jon Bichel is a P.Eng., M.Eng. with a diverse range of work experience. Jon has served as the Chief Technology Officer at Solartility, where they led engineering and technical teams in the development and management of a commercial and residential micro-generation based virtual power plant. Jon was also responsible for overseeing the retail energy platform, which included solar + storage leasing and energy optimization services.

Prior to that, Jon was the Business Development Manager and Co-founder of Yama Access Systems. Jon also served as a Technical Advisory Board member for Doug: The Easy-Growing Garden.

Jon's previous role was as the Technical Team Lead - Senior Software Engineer at Energy Toolbase, where they led a global hardware integrations team focused on C&I energy storage systems. Jon played a key role in the development and design of Energy Toolbase's Acumen EMSâ„¢, an energy management system that utilizes machine learning algorithms to optimize the behavior of energy storage systems.

Before joining Energy Toolbase, Jon served as the Director of Engineering and Co-founder at both NT Tech and Vermillion Power Technologies. Jon was responsible for overseeing engineering operations and played a crucial role in the development and manufacturing of various products.

Jon has also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Pason Power, where they contributed to the development of an Intelligent EMS that analyzed real-time data signals to optimize the value streams captured by storage applications.

Earlier in their career, Jon held the position of Senior Electrical Engineer and R&D Technical Lead - Director & Co-founder at PK Sound. Jon was responsible for product design and manufacturing, firmware and hardware development, hiring and managing teams, and overseeing procurement and supply chain operations.

Additionally, Jon worked as a Design Engineer and Co-founder at Neurotrauma Tech, where they provided design and engineering support for interactive media art installations. Jon was also a Board Member and Co-founder of EMCO Energy, where they played a key role in the development of a Solar PV MicroInverter and wireless mesh network monitoring system.

Overall, Jon Bichel has extensive experience in engineering, business development, and leadership roles within the renewable energy and technology industries.

Jon Bichel P.Eng., M.Eng. completed their education at the University of Calgary. Jon obtained a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the university. Following this, they pursued a Master of Engineering degree in Software Engineering, which they completed in 2019. In addition to their formal education, Jon holds various certifications, including a Professional Engineer certification from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), which they obtained in May 2013. Jon also holds an Amateur Radio Operator Certificate from the Government of Canada, received in August 2005, and an Electrical Safety Training System certification in Electrical Worker - USA, NFPA 70E Arc Flash & Shock from Dantec, acquired in March 2020.
