Arttu Luukanen has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Arttu is currently working as the Senior Vice President of Space & Defence at Solar Foods since March 2022. Previously, Luukanen was the Managing Director and Board member of Asqella from October 2013 to January 2022, where they played a crucial role in transforming the company into a successful global provider of walk-by security screening systems. Arttu also served as a member of the International Advisory Board at Chalmers GHz Centre from November 2012 to 2016.
Luukanen's research expertise includes working as a Research Professor at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland from July 2009 to October 2013. Arttu started their career at VTT as a Research Scientist and was later promoted to Senior Research Scientist in 2005. Moreover, they served as the Director of The Millimetre-wave Laboratory of Finland - MilliLab from July 2005 to October 2013.
In addition to their industry and research positions, Luukanen has also been involved in academia. Arttu served as a Docent at Helsinki University of Technology from August 2007 to May 2012. Furthermore, they were a member of the International Advisory Board at FOCUS FOI Centre of Excellence on Multisensors and Sensor Networks from October 2007 to December 2012.
Luukanen's other notable experiences include being a Sauna trainee at Startup Sauna in 2012 and serving as the Tpc chair for EuMIC2012. Arttu also worked as a Guest Researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology from June 2003 to June 2005.
Arttu Luukanen completed their Bachelor's degree in Applied Physics at the University of Helsinki from 1993 to 1999. Afterward, they pursued further education at the University of Jyväskylä, where they earned their Ph.D. in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics from 1998 to 2005.
