Sylvan R. has a diverse work experience beginning in 2006. From October 2006 to December 2007, they took a break and traveled to various destinations in Asia, India, Nordkapp, and Eastern Europe for self-reflection purposes. In 2008, they joined m&i partner, where they worked as a consultant specializing in business and IT for clients in public administration and education until December 2010. In 2011, Sylvan joined Software Improvement Group as a consultant, focusing on software quality and security. Sylvan provided services to solve uncertainties around software quality, often working on challenging projects involving old systems or new developments. Sylvan R. obtained their Bachelor's and Master's degrees in international business with a major in organizational studies and information management from Maastricht University from 2002 to 2006. In 2005, they also completed a program at Copenhagen Business School, finalizing their Bachelor's degree in business and organizational studies.

Sylvan also earned the Certified Function Point Analyst certification from nesma.org in November 2011. Additionally, they obtained the Scrum Master (PSM I) certification from Scrum.org in April 2011.

Earlier in their career, Sylvan earned certifications in BISL/Business Information Management from EXIN in October 2008 and IT Kosten-Baten Management from Euroforum in June 2008. Sylvan also obtained the Prince2 Foundation certification from EXIN in May 2008.
