Caitlin Barker

International Dissertation Research Fellow at Social Science Research Council

Caitlin Barker is a PhD candidate at Michigan State University, specializing in modern African intellectual history with a focus on China-Africa relations during the Cold War. Currently serving as a Fulbright Fellow at the Fulbright Program and an International Dissertation Research Fellow at the Social Science Research Council, Caitlin's research explores the mediation of Chinese knowledge of Africa by Cameroonians during delegation visits to the People's Republic of China. Previous roles include teaching English at Anhui Agricultural University, serving as an International Visitors Program Intern with the World Affairs Council, and volunteering with the Peace Corps in Cameroon. Caitlin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Kenyon College and has engaged in various academic and educational roles, including consulting and writing internships.
