Steven Lins has extensive work experience in the legal and energy sectors. Steven began their career in 1994 as a Deputy City Attorney for the City of Glendale, California. Steven then held various positions within the Glendale Water & Power company, including Deputy General Manager, where they were responsible for power supply and renewable energy generation. In 2014, they joined SMUD as the Chief Assistant General Counsel and later became the Deputy General Counsel & Director of Government Affairs.
Steven Lins has a diverse education history. In 1981, they obtained a BA in Management Science (Economics) from UCSD. Steven then went on to pursue a JD degree from Loyola Law School Los Angeles, completing it in 1988. In 2006-2007, Steven earned an MA in Organizational Leadership from Woodbury University. In 2010, they participated in the Advanced Management Program at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. Additionally, in 2011, Steven completed the Public Power Manager Certificate Program at the American Public Power Association Academy. Steven has also obtained several certifications related to diversity, inclusion, and communication from LinkedIn, with the most recent certification received in 2021.
