Euan Davidson has a diverse work experience in the field of power systems and engineering. Euan held various roles at Smarter Grid Solutions, starting as a Senior Engineer from 2012 to 2015. Euan then became the Head of Power Systems for a brief period from 2015 to 2016 before being promoted to the Director of Production Engineering. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing production, product management, quality assurance, and managed services. Euan shared technical leadership with the Chief Technology Officer and focused on system design, testing, and product improvements.
Prior to their time at Smarter Grid Solutions, Euan worked at the University of Strathclyde. Euan started in 2000 as a Senior Research Fellow, where they managed research programs in power systems automation, control, and diagnostics. Euan also lectured on several power systems courses and contributed to smart grid value propositions for GE Energy. In 2007, they became a Research Fellow on an EPSRC-funded project, where they developed innovative control techniques for power flow and voltage management. Euan also designed and implemented a real-time simulation test harness.
Euan had a research assistant role from 2000 to 2003, working on power system diagnostics and the development of software tools. Euan also had a secondment opportunity at SP PowerSystems through an EPSRC knowledge transfer scheme, where they developed and deployed a multi-agent system for post-fault analysis in the power industry.
Early in their career, Euan worked as a sponsored student at VATech Reyrolle, where they gained industry experience in switchgear manufacturing. Euan also had a summer internship at PowerSystems, ScottishPower, where they analyzed fault data and assisted engineers in the quality and performance group.
Overall, Euan Davidson's work experience showcases their expertise in power systems, engineering, research, and leadership roles across academia, industry, and technology companies.
Euan Davidson started their education journey in 1995 at the University of Strathclyde, where they pursued a degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Euan completed their studies in 2000, obtaining an MEng degree. In 1998, Euan also briefly studied at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, focusing on Electrical & Electronic Engineering. However, no specific degree was mentioned for this period. After a gap of several years, in 2011, they returned to education and attended the University Of Strathclyde again. During this time, they earned a Post-graduate Certificate in Advanced Academic Studies with a focus on Teaching and PhD Supervision in 2012.
