Mateja Ašanin has had a diverse range of work experiences in software development. Starting in 2016, they interned as a Software Developer at TransPerfect and then at Comtrade Software in 2017. In 2018, Mateja worked as a Software Developer at Technomedia, contributing to the development of Enterprise Time System (ETS) and a technical support application.
In 2019, Mateja joined Levi9 Technology Services as a Java Software Developer, working on the Essent Zakelijk Unity project. They were responsible for implementing new features, fixing bugs, and migrating the monolith to microservices. Mateja worked with technologies like Spring Boot, Oracle Database, RabbitMQ, Docker, and Kubernetes. Simultaneously, they also worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Mathematics and Informatics, Faculty of Science, University of Kragujevac.
From 2019 to 2020, Mateja joined Essent as a Software Engineer, and later in 2020, they moved to SmartCat.io. At SmartCat.io, Mateja took on the roles of Backend Engineer and Lead Backend Engineer. They served as a Team Coordinator on a betting platform project, focusing on distributed systems and utilizing technologies like Spring Boot, Kafka, Cassandra, Redis, Elasticsearch, Postgres, CockroachDB, Prometheus, and Docker. Additionally, they worked as a Solution Architect, assisting businesses with scalability problems and facilitating the transition from relational to distributed databases and monolithic to microservices architecture.
Mateja Ašanin earned a Bachelor's degree in Informatics from the Faculty of Science, University of Kragujevac, where they studied from 2014 to 2018. Prior to that, they attained a High School Degree in Computer Engineering from Technical School Čačak between 2010 and 2014. Mateja continued their education by pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science at the Faculty of Science, University of Kragujevac from 2018 to 2019. Additionally, they obtained certifications in Developer Essentials from Hazelcast in December 2020 and in Java Fundamentals from Oracle in March 2014.
