David Heyman is the CEO and founder of Smart City Works, an organization dedicated to helping cities solve their most pressing problems through innovation and technology. Prior to starting Smart City Works, David served as the Assistant Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where they were responsible for leading the development of the department's first Congressionally-mandated national strategy, as well as the department's first cyber policies and strategies. David also served as a Senior Fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University, where they led the development of the school's first space policy.
Heyman received a Master of Arts in International Economics and International Relations from The Johns Hopkins University - Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). David also completed a non-degree law program in International Business Transactions and Constitutional Law of Emerging Democracies at Eötvös Loránd University. Heyman's undergraduate degree is in Biology from Brandeis University.
