William Chambers has a diverse work experience in the gambling and gaming industry. William began their career in 2010 as a Legal Analyst for Gambling Compliance, where they reported on gambling business, law, and regulation, with a focus on the European Union. In 2012, they began freelance reporting and analysis for various online and print publications. In 2013, they took on the role of Head of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs / Research Lead at Betable, where they were responsible for licensing, regulatory compliance, corporate due diligence, customer due diligence, and product compliance. From 2016 to 2017, they were Head of Compliance at Betway Group, responsible for building out their regulatory compliance, responsible gambling, data protection, and betting integrity functions. In 2019, they became Regulatory Lead UK & Ireland at Uber. Currently, they serve as Group Compliance Director at William Hill, where they oversee compliance divisions in the UK, Europe, and the US, and is responsible for group compliance monitoring and board reporting. William also holds the role of Chief Compliance Officer at Smarkets.
William Chambers attended Kingston University from 2007 to 2010, where they obtained a BA in Journalism with a 1.1 degree. William also attended Schull Community College from 2001 to 2006, where they completed their Secondary School Leaving Cert. Additionally, they attended Francis W. Parker School from 2003 to 2004. In 2016, Chambers obtained a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist certification from ACAMS. William is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
