Niels van der Vegt is currently engaged in an Msc thesis at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, focusing on the impact of extreme weather on moose movement and habitat selection. Niels has experience as a Software Engineering Consultant at Kojac since January 2022, specializing in front-end development and data science projects. Prior to this role, Niels completed a research internship at NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research, predicting shorebird behavior through real-time trajectories and machine-learning models. Niels has also held positions as a Data Science Intern at Sovon Vogelonderzoek Nederland, evaluating breeding bird monitoring programs, and as a Deep Learning Intern at Dacom, working on crop prediction with deep neural networks. Niels is pursuing two Master's degrees in Biology and Geo-Information Science at Wageningen University & Research and holds a Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics from Hanze, alongside prior studies in ICT and secondary education.
