Fan Zhang has a diverse work experience in the field of optoelectronics and LED technology. They worked as a Test and Rel Engineer at KYOCERA SLD Laser from November 2018 to the present. Prior to that, they worked at Cree from April 2010 to May 2018, where they held the position of Research Scientist. Their responsibilities included advanced LED chip design and fabrication, phosphor integration process development, and optimization for system performance. Before joining Cree, Fan Zhang worked at Penn State University in various roles. From December 2008 to May 2010, they were a Research Associate involved in designing and fabricating high-efficiency white LEDs and developing novel InGaN/GaN nano-pillar LEDs. They also served as the Lab Manager for the Optoelectronics Lab from August 2005 to January 2010, where they managed vacuum equipment and developed process operation specifications. Additionally, they worked as a Research Assistant from August 2005 to December 2008, focusing on controlling output polarizations of LEDs and VCSELs, fabricating colloidal quantum-dot photovoltaic devices, and conducting optical and electrical property studies.
Fan Zhang completed their Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering from Tianjin University in the years 1998 to 2002. Following this, Fan pursued a Master's degree in Optical Engineering from the same university from 2002 to 2005. Afterward, Fan Zhang attended Pennsylvania State University from 2005 to 2008, where they obtained a Ph.D in Engineering Science.
