Shirin Etessam has over 12 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry. Shirin began their career in 2008 as Content Strategy and Production Services for CBS Interactive, where they were responsible for developing content and creating a video channel for CBSi's business network, BNET. In 2009, they founded OML TV, and in 2010 they held the roles of Line Producer for PRN and Show Producer for Indigo Films. From 2011 to 2015, they were Vice President of Production & Content for Joyus, and Vice President of Production for Pedersen Media Group from 2015 to 2017. In 2017, they founded Slay Agency and served as Content and Creative Chief. In 2021, they became Co-Founder and Executive Producer of Thornbyrd Films, and also began contributing to the Forbes Communications Council and Rolling Stone Culture Council.

Shirin Etessam obtained their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Film and Broadcasting from San Francisco State University between 1990 and 1994.
