Thomas Hodge has substantial work experience in various roles and industries. Thomas began their career in the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant and served until 1990. After that, they worked as a Senior Engineer at Woodward-Clyde Consultants from 1990 to 1992, followed by a position as a Senior Engineer at Bechtel Corporation from 1992 to 1999. Thomas then became a Project Manager at Olivia Chen Consultants from 1999 to 2002. In 2002, they joined San Jose Water Company as an Engineering Manager until 2007, when they assumed the role of President at SJWTX, Inc. Thomas held this position for over 16 years until 2023. Currently, they are the Vice President of Business Development at SJW Group, where they began working in April 2023.

Thomas Hodge holds a Master's Degree in Water Resources Engineering, which they obtained from Stanford University in 1990. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University from 1981 to 1985. In terms of additional certifications, Thomas has been granted the Professional Engineer designation by the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists in August 1991. Furthermore, they also possess a Professional Engineer certification from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, although the specific date of obtaining this certification is unknown.
