Melanie Smith is an experienced professional in the fields of ESG advisory, research, and transformation. Currently serving as an IRC Working Group Member at the Integrated Reporting Committee of South Africa since October 2023, Melanie contributes by developing technical Information Papers and FAQs. In the role of Practice Head for ESG Advisory and Research at Six Capitals ESG Advisory since April 2020, Melanie leads project management, sales through tender contracts, and provides technical advisory on corporate reporting and ESG policy development. Prior experience includes roles as a Transformation and ESG Analyst and Researcher at Alternative Prosperity Holdings, an ESG Researcher Intern at Diversifi, a Verification Analyst at B-BBEE Rating Agency, and an Environmental Officer at EndemicVision Environmental Services. Melanie holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development and advanced qualifications from Stellenbosch University, showcasing a strong academic foundation in environmental and social governance.
