Niina Vatanen is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in journalism and communications planning. Currently serving as a Communications Planner at Pohjois-Karjalan hyvinvointialue – Siun sote since March 2023, Vatanen previously held the role of Communications Designer at Kontiolahden kunta from March 2017 to March 2023. Vatanen's career includes positions as a Journalist at Yle Joensuu, Information Officer for the City of Joensuu, and Journalist roles at various organizations including Sanomalehti Karjalainen Oy, STT, Yle, and Pohjolan Sanomat Oy. Vatanen holds a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of Jyväskylä and a Bachelor's degree in Culture and Arts from Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences.
