Yaoyu Zhang is a highly experienced professional currently serving as a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum since March 2023. With a long-standing role at PetroChina International, Yaoyu Zhang has been the General Manager since August 2019, overseeing LNG trading and origination, as well as environmental solutions, after previously holding the position of Deputy General Manager, responsible for global downstream LNG investments. Prior to this, Yaoyu Zhang spent over a decade at Shell, where responsibilities included leading operational excellence and cost competitiveness for upstream assets as Production Excellence Lead, and developing gas and LNG opportunities in the Asia Pacific as New Business Development Manager. Earlier roles at Shell involved supporting LNG projects across multiple countries, including the UK, Qatar, Nigeria, and Russia. Yaoyu Zhang holds a Master of Philosophy in Technology Policy from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University.
