Hyeok Jung Kim has a diverse work experience spanning from 2013 to the present. They started their career as an Instructor at Mathnasium - The Math Learning Center, where they taught math to students of all ages and communicated with parents and management about student progress. From 2014 to 2016, they served as a Math Team Coach at Russell Sage Junior High 190, managing and teaching a team of middle-school students for various math competitions and preparing eighth-grade students for high school. In 2017, they worked as a Student Teacher at Bayside High School, creating and teaching lessons for senior pre-calculus classes and differentiating instruction for students with special needs and English Language Learners. They also held a role as a Private Tutor at Lexicon Academics during the same year, tutoring middle and high school students in math and standardized tests while adapting resources to meet individual learning styles. In 2018, Hyeok joined Flatiron School as a Software Engineering Coach, facilitating the education of web development skills and assisting students in integrating third-party code. They later became a Senior Instructor at the same institution, developing lesson plans and projects and delivering lectures on full-stack web development. Their most recent position is at Simulmedia, where they work as a Software Engineer II starting from 2021.
Hyeok Jung Kim completed a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education from Macaulay Honors College at The City University of New York from 2013 to 2017. In 2018, Hyeok also attended Flatiron School to study Computer Software Engineering. During the summer of 2016, Hyeok participated in the International Summer School program at Yonsei University. Prior to college, Hyeok attended Stuyvesant High School from 2009 to 2013.
