Raj Maitra has a diverse work experience in software engineering and research. Raj began their career in 2008 as a Research Assistant at UCSC Bhalla Laboratory, where they developed multisite cloning techniques, introduced exogenous vectors into C. Elegans germline via microinjection, and comprehensively implemented various lab techniques. In 2011, they took on a Research Assistant role at UCSC Dunbar Laboratory. In 2012, they became a Teaching Assistant at UC Santa Cruz. In 2013, they started working for Simple But Needed, Inc. as a Software Developer, and later held the roles of Senior Software Developer and Software Engineering Manager. In 2014, they took on a Web Developer role at Major League Ultimate (MLU). In 2015, they began working for Apple as a Software Developer, where they maintained and developed Ruby on Rails internal web applications, migrated and updated older Rails applications, designed relational database models, and helped institute continuous integration and testing-based workflows. In 2021, they founded Loonatic Productions, where they provide audio production from composition, mixing and mastering, and video production from digital art to music videos.
Raj Maitra began their educational journey in 2006 when they earned a Bachelor's degree in Biomolecular Engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz. In 2007 and 2008, they attended the University of Cambridge, but did not earn a degree. In 2011, they returned to the University of California, Santa Cruz and completed their Master of Science (M.S.) in Computer Engineering in 2013.
