Roberta Armillis has a diverse work experience in various industries. Roberta currently holds the position of VP Backend Product at The Signal Group since March 2022. Prior to this, they were the Director Technical Product at the same company from November 2020 to February 2022. Before joining The Signal Group, Roberta worked as a Senior Technical Product Manager at the company from September 2019 to October 2020, and as a Senior Data Scientist from August 2018 to August 2019. Roberta also served as a Data Scientist / Trading Strategist at the company from July 2017 to July 2018.
Roberta's previous experience includes working as a Vice President - Portfolio Analyst at Swiss Re Asset Management from June 2016 to June 2017. Roberta also worked at UBS as an Associate Director in Statistical Risk Model Development and Maintenance from November 2013 to May 2016.
In their early career, Roberta worked as a Research Assistant in Theoretical Physics and Cosmology at Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne from October 2011 to September 2013. Roberta also held the role of Teaching Assistant for a Ph.D. course at the same institution during the same period. Additionally, Roberta was a Visiting Research Fellow at CERN from October 2011 to September 2013. Roberta began their career as an Early Stage Researcher for the European Training Network UniLHC at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from September 2010 to July 2011.
Roberta Armillis has a strong educational background in physics and related fields. Roberta started their education journey in 2002 at Università del Salento, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Physics in 2005. Continuing their studies at the same institution, Roberta pursued a Master's Degree in Elementary Particle Physics, which they completed in 2007.
In 2005, they also earned a Diploma in Applied Physics, Nanotechnology & Grid Computing from the National Nanotechnology Laboratory (NNL) in Lecce, Italy.
Building on their previous degrees, Roberta pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Elementary Particle Physics at Università del Salento from 2008 to 2011.
After completing their PhD, Roberta continued their academic pursuits and joined EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) as a Postdoc in Theoretical Physics and Cosmology from 2011 to 2013.
In addition to their formal education, Roberta has also earned several certifications to enhance their knowledge and skills in various areas. Roberta obtained certificates in Financial Markets, Statistical Inference, Reproducible Research, Exploratory Data Analysis, Getting and Cleaning Data, R Programming, and The Data Scientist’s Toolbox from online platforms such as Coursera. Roberta also holds the status of a Professional Risk Manager (PRM) Candidate, recognized by PRMIA - Professional Risk Managers' International Association.
