Omid Veiseh

Omid Veiseh is a distinguished academic and entrepreneur specializing in cancer research and bioengineering. Currently serving as a Professor and CPRIT Scholar in Cancer Research at Rice University since July 2017, Omid Veiseh also holds the position of Director at the Rice Biotech Launch Pad. Prior to these roles, Omid Veiseh co-founded Avenge Bio and Sigilon, Inc., while contributing as a founding scientist and head of innovation, focusing on the development of immune privileged products. Previous experiences include a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Langer Lab at MIT, research fellowship at Children's Hospital Boston, and research associate roles at the University of Washington, where extensive research on theragnostic nanoparticles for cancer treatment and diagnostics was conducted. Omid Veiseh holds dual Ph.D. degrees from the University of Washington in Materials Science & Engineering and Nanotechnology, as well as postdoctoral training in Chemical Engineering from MIT.
