Kabir Agarwal has a diverse and extensive work experience in journalism and research. Kabir started their career as an Independent Journalist, writing essays and reported stories on various topics such as food systems, agriculture, poverty, climate change, and energy transitions. Their writings were published in reputable publications like The Washington Post, Foreign Policy, Jacobin, EU Observer, and more. During this time, they also hosted the Unequal podcast and wrote the Unequal newsletter centered around themes of inequality globally.

Following their independent journalism work, Kabir joined TheWire.in as a Senior Correspondent, Special Projects in 2021. In this role, they contributed to the publication by writing news articles, investigative reports, and ground reports on a wide range of topics including the economy, agriculture, poverty, food security, politics, health, and climate change. Kabir also engaged in data journalism and data visualization, and produced video stories, interviews, and photo essays.

Prior to their time at TheWire.in, Kabir worked as a National Writer for the same publication from 2018 to 2020. During this period, they wrote news articles, investigative reports, and long-form articles focusing on the economy, agriculture, poverty, food security, politics, health, and climate change. Kabir also executed data journalism and data visualization projects and produced video stories, interviews, and photo essays.

Before joining TheWire.in, Kabir worked as an Independent Journalist from 2016 to 2018, where they continued to write articles and reports on various social and political issues.

In 2014, Kabir served as a Producer and Radio Jockey for Must Radio in India. Kabir developed content and produced shows covering sports, economics, politics, and education. Kabir also hosted bi-weekly shows discussing the vocational relevance of university education in India.

In 2015, Kabir worked as a Research Associate for Nivara Hakk Sangharsh Samiti, where they conducted research on affordable housing in Mumbai, co-authored a book titled 'Chasing The Affordable Dream: A Plan to House Mumbai's Millions.'

Between 2012 and 2015, Kabir worked as a Research Associate at the Vibhooti Shukla Centre for Urban Economics and Regional Development, University of Mumbai. Here, they worked on projects related to urban infrastructure finance and urban governance. Kabir co-authored a paper titled 'Decline of Rental Housing in India: the Case of Mumbai' and gained expertise in the application of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in urban research and spatial analysis.

Currently, Kabir Agarwal holds the position of Senior Finance Reporter at Sifted, starting in April 2023.

Kabir Agarwal has a Masters in Economics from the University of Mumbai. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree with a focus on Commerce and Economics at Delhi University. The specific start and end years for these educational experiences are not provided.
