Melanie Naidoo-Vermaak has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Melanie began their career in 1997 with various roles in the SA Government. From there, they worked as an Environmental Co-ordinator at De Beers Consolidated Mines and later as a Group Environmental Manager at DRDGold Limited. In 2005, they joined Mintek as the Head of Sustainable Development before moving on to BHP Billiton as an HSEC Manager. Melanie then worked as an HSEC Consultant in London for Anglo American and as the Head of Environmental at Eskom. In 2009, Melanie joined Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited as the Group Executive Manager and Senior Vice President. In 2011, they took on the role of Director of companies, Trustee, and Mentor. Throughout their career, Melanie has gained expertise in environmental management, sustainability, and corporate leadership.
Melanie Naidoo-Vermaak completed their education with a BSc Honours in Industrial Microbiology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 1996. Melanie later pursued an MSc in Environmental Management at the University of Johannesburg from 2000 to 2001. In 2012, they obtained an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Southern Queensland.
