Patrick Ruch serves as the Chairman of E&S, Research and Development at HES-SO Haute école spécialisée de Suisse occidentale since January 2023 and also holds the roles of Research Coordinator and Professor at HEG since October 2008, specializing in Information Sciences. Ruch has been the Department Chair and Group Lead at SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics since January 2013 and previously worked as a contractor at Novartis from September 2011 to January 2021 and at IBM - Zürich Research Lab from 2007 to December 2008. Other roles include Computer Scientist at University Hospitals of Geneva, Lecturer at University of Geneva, and Associate Scientist at University and Hospitals of Geneva. Ruch contributed to enhancing information retrieval during a contract at the National Library of Medicine/NIH in 2005 and served as a Research Associate at EPFL, where teaching included courses on Automata Theory and Pattern Recognition. Ruch earned a PhD in Sciences from the University of Geneva between 1998 and 2002.
