Alison King

Product Director at Shut Up & Write!

Alison King has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. From 2019 to present, they have worked as a Product Manager and Editor at Shut Up & Write!, where they are responsible for developing and executing product roadmaps for digital and print products. Alison manages the entire product development cycle and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches.

From 2002 to 2019, Alison was self-employed as a Freelance Web & Content Developer. In this role, they provided writing and editing services for clients, including blog posts, articles, and company correspondence. Alison also had expertise in web design, coding, maintenance, and site architecture assistance.

Additionally, Alison worked as a Manager of Product Development at 550 Digital Media Ventures from 2000 to 2002. In this position, they collaborated with a team to launch projects for Sony Music and its incubated companies. Alison also had experience in web development using PHP, SQL, CVS, UNIX, HTML, and Photoshop.

From 1997 to 2000, Alison held the role of Technology Project Manager at PC World Communications. Alison'sduties included launching site enhancements and redesigns, maintaining the network of PC World sites, and rebuilding sections of PC World Online using Vignette StoryServer. Alison also had skills in web development using StoryServer, TCL, Oracle, JavaScript, HTML, and Photoshop.

Alison King completed their B.A in English and Fine Arts from Amherst College in the years 1991 to 1995. Following this, they pursued a Master's Degree in Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1996 to 1998. In 2016, Alison enrolled at Stanford University, where they obtained a Certificate in Novel Writing between the years 2016 and 2019.
