Daniel Mitchell

Chief Technology Officer at ShineOn

Daniel Mitchell has a diverse work experience spanning over a period of several years. Daniel is currently the Vice President of Engineering at ShineOn, a position they have held since December 2022. Prior to this role, they served as the Senior Director of Engineering at ShineOn from April 2022 to December 2022. During their time at ShineOn, they successfully launched the company into the Shopify App store, achieving a top 3 ranking in the print on demand category. Daniel also expanded the engineering team, adopted agile principles, and established triage and escalation processes for bugfix. Additionally, they developed cross-functional relationships to drive major e-commerce projects.

Before joining ShineOn, Daniel gained valuable experience at Eli Lilly and Company, where they held multiple positions. As the Associate Director of Customer Experience Technologies from February 2020 to March 2022, they designed cloud platforms and SaaS applications serving millions of customers across international pharmaceutical brands. Daniel was responsible for a team of 60 JavaScript developers and successfully insourced development efforts, resulting in significant cost savings. As the Platform Lead/DevOps Engineering Manager from December 2018 to February 2020, Daniel re-platformed 150 commercial websites and apps to a global service. Daniel managed cloud platforms at scale and established a Site Reliability Engineering team. Daniel also served as the Product Owner of Commercial DevOps from September 2017 to November 2018 and as a Digital Integrator in Oncology Marketing from July 2014 to September 2017, where they partnered with marketing and established regulatory submission standards for responsive websites.

Prior to their time at Eli Lilly and Company, Daniel worked at Kelley School of Business as a Web Developer from December 2011 to July 2014, where they developed accessible and responsive websites and implemented various systems. Daniel also served as the Lead Web Developer at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College from August 2007 to November 2011. In this role, they re-platformed the institution's website and coordinated multi-channel marketing campaigns. Daniel was also a founding member of the Information Security Committee.

Daniel's early career includes their role as a Technology Consultant and Founder of XCaliber Systems, a technical start-up that served small business and non-profit clients. From an unspecified start date to 2008, they managed multiple e-commerce websites, established reseller agreements, and formed partnerships with major electronics manufacturers.

Daniel Mitchell completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Information Technology from Indiana State University, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. In 2014, they attended IT Training Solutions to specialize in Secure Programming: Developing Defensible Web Applications, a course in Computer Science. Daniel also pursued Professional Development studies in New Media Arts & Sciences (Graduate Level) at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis in 2007 and in Curriculum Instruction & Media Technologies (Graduate Level) at Indiana State University from 2009 to 2010.

Daniel Mitchell has obtained certifications as a Certified SAFe 5 Practitioner from Scaled Agile, Inc. in April 2021. Daniel also holds a Network+ Certified Professional certification from CompTIA, though the exact month and year of obtaining this certification are unspecified.
