Dana Lorentson has over 14 years of experience in the multi- housing industry along with 5 years in the real estate industry. In her current role as Vice President of Regulatory Compliance Ms. Lorentson is responsible for maintaining over 4,500 units and their compliance requirements. Ms. Lorentson’s responsibilities include compliance for all new lease ups and property rehabilitation, annual training for all site staff, monthly and annual reporting for Low Income Housing Tax Credits, HOME, HUD Section 8/236, Marif, Multifamily Bond, SHIP, SAIL, HOPE and other funding sources. She maintains the overall compliance for all properties.
Ms. Lorentson has proven her skills in compliance by continually striving for perfect audits. Some of our Section 8 properties achieved an Above Average rating by MHFA for our 2019 Management and Occupancy reviews. The overall Shelter Corporation compliance for 2019 for all HOME, Tax Credit, Marif and Section 8 property inspections has been Excellent with all other properties passing with Satisfactory. This includes File and Physical Inspections. Our average REAC score over the past 2 years has been 95, with 4 properties scoring a 99 or 100 respectively.
Ms. Lorentson studied business and real estate at Saint Cloud State University and earned a certificate in property management from Hennepin Technical College. She holds her Florida Real Estate Brokers license along with her Minnesota Real Estate Salesperson license. She is a leader and demonstrates knowledge and love for the compliance field. She strives to train and help each of the site staff members understand all levels of their properties’ compliance requirements. She has a Certified Occupancy Specialist Masters in Section 8 Housing, Public Housing Specialist and a Certified Occupancy Specialist in Section 42 housing. Ms. Lorentson was part of the 2010 MADACS award winners for Property Excellence as a site manager as well as a 2012 MADACS as a nominee for Best Support Staff.
