Peer Hanich has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. They currently hold the position of Head of Litigation at Shawbrook Bank since 2023, having previously served as Senior Legal Counsel at the same company from 2021 to 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Financial Markets Litigation Lawyer at TLT LLP from 2020 to 2021. Between 2017 and 2019, Peer Hanich held the role of Manager - Methodology, Process Design & Change at NatWest Group. They also gained experience at Ulster Bank as a Methodology Lead / Policy Manager from 2016 to 2017, and at NatWest Group as a Methodology Lead from 2015 to 2016. Peer Hanich started their career as a Financial Markets Litigation Lawyer at Dentons from 2014 to 2015, where they primarily defended allegations of mis-sold financial instruments. They then served as a Legal Counsel (Secondee) at NatWest Group from 2014 to 2015, working on the Interest Rate Hedging Products Remediation Project. Peer Hanich also has experience as a Financial Markets Litigation Lawyer at Simmons & Simmons from 2013 to 2014, where they handled retail financial mis-selling cases. They began their career as a Commercial Litigation Lawyer at Solomon Brothers from 2008 to 2012, handling various areas of corporate and commercial litigation.
Peer Hanich attended Helena College Secondary School from 1997 to 2001. In 2003, they enrolled at Murdoch University and earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in 2007. During their time at Murdoch University, they also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Politics & International Studies, which they completed in 2006. In 2009, Peer was admitted to both the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
